Worth "Follow"ing!!
Vicki Davis is a wonderful, inspiring teacher that has a blog that is ALWAYS worth reading through. Please "Follow" her and then take a look at the article she wrote for The Washington Post Definitely read the last paragraph on the first page of the newspaper article. She hit the nail on the head with that one.
We have to start speaking up for our profession!! Blogs you follow and articles you click on and read SPEAKS to the world. People are following these trends and we need to make comments in comment boxes and let the world know that we are NOBLE professional persons who KNOW what and how to teach. STOP telling us what we have to do and when we have to do it. Let us follow our hearts and minds. A teacher who wants to do the best for his/her students will do WHATEVER it takes to make that happen. Powerblock was initially started for a group of students who had a need to "hit it hard at the end". Because it looked good and sounded good on paper, EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO DO IT ALL YEAR LONG WITHOUT RESPECT FOR THE TEACHERS INPUT!! This is where we, as professionals, need to speak up and say: "Please let us have some FREEDOM TO TEACH. We will always put our students first and do the right thing for our students, but stop running our classrooms when you aren't even in them or working with the kids daily. Step back and TRUST US!!"
So to my co-workers I say: "Read blogs, click on important educational articles, LIKE great groups/blogs/articles and show them on Facebook, this is all a way to speak out and be heard!!"

Sharing
I hope your summer has started off with an air conditioner! It's HOT!!
I wanted to share a list of "games" websites that I have created for our daycare to use this summer. So check it out and see if it's something you can use at home with your own child or even at school! Post comments and share what you have found.

WHY?
This blog was created for YOU! I've added some very informational flipbooks that you may find inspirational. I'm also going to add GREAT websites for you to check out. This could be a great place for everyone to share ideas and to have serious discussions on our summer reading book.
WHAT ELSE?
I've also included my livebinders for you to use. Remember if you want to learn how to do this yourself, I'll be more than happy to show you. It's really easy and a great way to organize yourself. Please let me know what else you are interested in seeing or having on this blog and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
HOW?
If you want to leave a comment or ask a question to spark discussion, click on "leave a comment" and type. It's that simple and others can make comments as needed.
